Helen in Her Homeland

What is a home–the place we were born, or what we make of it? A modern poetic and mythological retelling of what the face that launched a thousand ships might have seen, and said, in Troy.

Frayed Knot Collective is proud to present the World Premiere of Helen in Her Homeland — an original play written by Alexandra Haddad and directed by Jessica Wastchak. The production ran from October 17-26th, 2025 at Loft Story in Brooklyn, NY. A reflection on the power and pain of beauty, Helen in Her Homeland shares how Helen of Troy and Paris met, fled, started, and ended a war. Themes of sex, gender, identity, immigration, and violence, all explored by a woman who, throughout history, has remained voiceless. In reclamation of this sentiment, our production includes an entirely female-led production team.
